The Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown in early February has quickly become one of the most important meetings of the jumps season: two days packed with Grade 1 contests that serve as the definitive Irish trial for the Cheltenham Festival a month later. The strength of the Irish jumps programme means the form is often stronger than the equivalent British races.
Leopardstown is a fair, galloping left-handed park course with a sweeping home turn, rewarding genuine ability without too many quirks — a good position into the straight helps on quicker ground. Because so many of these horses reappear at Cheltenham, Dublin form is among the most reliable pointers to the Festival, winners and beaten horses alike.
