British Champions Day
The richest day in British Flat racing — the season finale at Ascot, deciding the year's championships.
QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot in mid-October is the climax of the British Flat season and its richest raceday, bringing the campaign's leading horses together across sprint, mile, middle-distance and staying divisions to settle the year's championships. It's the last chance for reputations to be made or confirmed before the horses go to stud or winter.
Held on Ascot's stiff, galloping track, often on autumn ground that can ride soft, it rewards genuine class and stamina and can catch out horses at the end of a long season. Seasonal form is the guide, but fitness and how well a horse has held its form into October matter — some peak here, others have had enough.
The championship races
